Why I drink Matcha everyday

In a world where wellness trends come and go, and Instagram feeds are flooded with conflicting advice, one tradition has stood the test of time over history - and in my own life! Matcha.

This ground tea powder is renowned for its vibrant green hue and earthy flavour profile. It makes a gorgeous and nutritious latte!

At the heart of matcha's allure is its rich concentration of antioxidants. Packed with catechins, notably epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), matcha possesses potent free-radical-fighting properties that can help combat oxidative stress and inflammation. These antioxidants are thought to contribute to a myriad of health benefits, from bolstering the immune system to promoting cardiovascular health.

However, what truly sets matcha apart is its unique amino acid profile, starring: l-theanine.

This naturally occurring compound is revered for its calming properties, known to induce a state of relaxation without sedation. When paired with the slight caffeine content of matcha, l-theanine fosters a balanced sense of alertness and tranquility, making it an ideal companion for moments of focus and mindfulness throughout the day.

L-theanine is often part of calming formulas for anxiety and sleep issues, because it influences the production of brain calming chemicals like GABA.

My fave way to drink matcha, is in a latte with a clean non-dairy milk like almond — it makes the most delicious blend … earthy ceremonial-grade matcha powder, creamy nut milk… YUM!!! Sometimes a lil raw honey for extra sweetness.

But when I’m using this clean barista blend (seed oil free) buy in bulk on Amazon I don’t use any sweetener because it has the perfect amount of sweetness already.

As always, use wisdom with sweeteners so the benefits don’t get cancelled out. A matcha latte from Starbucks made with inflammatory milks, syrups, and added sugars, are a recipe for blood sugar disaster which essentially derail the benefits of the tea itself.

If you DO need a sweetness to it, a light touch of raw honey or maple syrup can enhance the flavour profile of your matcha latte.

Matcha is as great alternative to coffee.

The caffeine boost you get from this super powder is much slower than coffee. It releases over time, making it a less jittery and aggressive way to enjoy caffeine without the major crash. I drew a little diagram to show ya up above here.

In case you weren’t yet convinced, Matcha is full of good nutrients. We all could use more food based vitamin C, magnesium, selenium and zinc. You'll get that all with your cuppa green. Not only that, but it actually contains CHROMIUM which is a blood sugar stabilizer (again, as long as you’re not reaching for the Starbucks cup.)

Soooo, whether you savor it as a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon respite, each sip serves as a gentle reminder to nourish both body and mind. So, why not embrace the ritual of the matcha latte and savor the myriad benefits it has to offer? Your well-being will thank you for it.
